Even if it's a lie

An extreme throwback to a couplet (the last two lines of this poem) I wrote during a pleasant yellow cab ride in Kolkata back in 2010. I wrote it as a text message in an earlier-generation mobile phone before pressing the send button. To my surprise, the response from the recipient was so overwhelming that it floats my boat even today (my state of mind was very similar to Sushant's or Irrfan's in the image below). Recently I had a chance to expand on the central theme with a light-hearted touch, resulting in the following short poem :)

মিছেই না হয় 

মিছেই না হয় পুছলে হদিশ দুর্বলের তাই কম কি?

বিশেষ সূত্রে খবর নিও আজকাল আমি শয্যাশায়ী

News এ আসবে না তাই পাঠাচ্ছি Weather Report

প্রবল ঝড়ের আশঙ্কা তাই চলছে না Public Transport

WhatsApp এর দরদী Status পৌছায়নি তোমার শহরে

শেষ পর্যন্ত কলম ধরলাম By Chance যদি মনে ধরে

মিছেই চাইলে চোখ তুলে না হয় জীবনকবির তাই কম কি?

সবাই জানে তুমিই বনলতা সেন তুমিই আমার 'দুদণ্ড শান্তি'

মিছেই না হয় করলে খাতির নিষ্প্রাণের তাই কম কি?

খোঁজ নিয়ে দেখো তুমি নেই তাই আমি Almost ধরাশায়ী

ডাক্তার বলেছে 'Gone Case - Multiorgan Failure'

Artificial Intelligence বলছে 'Relapse - For Sure'

তোমার চলে যাওয়ার অনিবার্যতায় জীবন খেয়েছে থতমত

তার ওপরে Early Midlife Crisis আর বাকিটা ব্যক্তিগত

তাই মিছেই না হয় বাসলে ভালো ফকিরের তাই কম কি?

ভুল বলিনি ভেবে দেখো তুমি ছাড়া আমি ফকির-ই
